The ACCC has fired a warning shot at Qantas and Virgin, saying it will keep a close eye on prices following the collapse of Bonza and the uncertain future of Rex. When Rex began flying between the capitals in 2021, prices on these routes fell by 25 percent.

The insolvency administrators of the troubled regional airline Rex are urging cautious travelers to continue flying with the heavily indebted airline despite concerns about its future viability. Consulting firm EY Australia has been working to rescue the five Rex Group companies since the airline grounded its Boeing 737 fleet on key metropolitan routes in July.
