As overdose deaths continue to occur, more injection rooms are needed

Advocates say more medically supervised injection rooms are needed across Melbourne as figures show overdose deaths remain near record-breaking. According to an annual report released by the Coroners Court of Victoria on Thursday, 547 Victorians suffered a fatal overdose in 2023 – three fewer than 2022, when the state recorded its deadliest deaths.
