Premier Roger Cook: NAPLAN results show importance of $1.6 billion Commonwealth funding agreement

Poor NAPLAN results showing a third of Western Australian students no longer meet basic proficiency standards underscore the importance of the state's agreement to a multi-billion dollar funding deal with the Commonwealth, the Premier says.

Following the release of NAPLAN results showing that 30 per cent of WA students were at the bottom of the table on average in reading, writing and numeracy, Roger Cook said the testing regime had “shone a light on the need for improvement”.
