Angry members of the New South Wales Liberal Party fear the state executive's “unforgivable” local election mistake, which barred Liberal candidates from standing in up to 12 local councils, could be a harbinger of further missteps as the party prepares for the federal election in early 2025.
On Wednesday, it was revealed that the Secretary of State had missed the midday deadline for registering candidates, prompting senior Liberal politicians to call for the resignation of State Secretary Richard Shields.
