Japan's Prime Minister cancels trip after earthquake warning

Japan's prime minister has cancelled plans to travel to Central Asia and will instead take precautionary measures following an unprecedented warning that the risk of a major earthquake on the Pacific coast was higher than usual.

The Japanese Meteorological Agency issued its first warning of a major earthquake on the country's Pacific coast on Thursday, after a major earthquake measuring 7.1 on the Richter scale struck the southwestern island of Kyushu on the same day.
