A Senate inquiry on Friday will find that insurers are not doing enough to support cyclone-hit regions in north Queensland, while climate change is exacerbating the impact of natural disasters.
Property owners in Queensland's cyclone region are paying up to 12 times more in insurance premiums than those near the southern border, according to a statement from North Queensland's Strata Action group. The Senate committee is meeting for a second day in Brisbane to hear evidence from Strata Action and Suncorp, as well as local governments and climate change groups.
