“The Moogai,” a nightmarish horror film written, directed and produced by First Nations filmmakers, has won the $100,000 grand prize at CinefestOZ, the most valuable award of its kind in Australia.
The debut of veteran Indigenous screenwriter Jon Bell (“Cleverman”) is based on his short film of the same name and stars Shari Sebbens (“The Sapphires”), who plays a young Aboriginal mother who believes her daughter is possessed.
