By the end of this year, all Australians will be able to use a “gold standard” digital ID platform on their mobile phones, allowing them to share private personal information without handing over sensitive documents such as passports or driver’s licenses.
Addressing the National Press Club on Tuesday, Public Services Minister Bill Shorten will announce the national Trust Exchange, or TEx, program, which is currently in the proof-of-concept phase and is expected to be launched later this year.
